Split Dosing
One week prior to procedure: “Do not take” iron pills or medication that can thin your blood, or cause bleeding.
these include: Coumadin, aspirin, and Plavix. You must stop any anti-inflammatory type drugs including Ibuprofen, Mot-
rin, advil, naproxen, Mobic, and Celebrex. tylenol and other brands which contain acetaminophen are safe to use prior to
this procedure. any chronic pain medications may be continued, ask physician for details.
Purchase at the pharmacy:
➢ Fill your prescription for Half-Lytely One day before procedure:
Must ReMain on cleaR liquids (see clear liquid diet sheet)
• In the morning, prepare the Half-Lytely according to the label directions and refrigerate.
1pm take (2) Dulcolax tablets.
• Wait for bowel movement. After a bowel movement occurs (usually within 1 to 6 hours), begin drinking the
chilled solution. If no bowel movement occurs by 7:00 p.m., start drinking solution. You need to drink 8 oz.
every 10 minutes until one half of the bottle is gone. take the remaining 2 Dulcolax tablets
• Continue clear fluids until midnight.
On the day of the procedure:
• Nothing to eat the day of your procedure. You may only have clear liquids up to 4 hours prior to
procedure.
• If you take medication, you may have it on the morning of the procedure with a small amount of water. (call the office if you have questions about these medicine instructions) • Diabetic patients: If you take an oral Hypoglycemic (“sugar pill”), do not take it the day of your procedure. If you take Insulin, take only one third (1/3) the normal dose the morning of the procedure. Ex: If you take 30 units only take 10 units the morning of the procedure.
• At _____________________, please finish drinking the chilled solution within one hour. You need to drink 8 oz. every 10-15 minutes until you have consumed the rest of the bottle. (Your stomach must be empty 4 hours prior to the procedure) arrive at aGeC (left side entrance) OR PCMH outpatient admission
at ___________ for a _________________ procedure.
**a Family member or Friend must accompany you, remain there with you and drive you home after the procedure. this also applies when using public transportation.**  Must bring: Current insurance card, co pay. licensed driver and a current medication list the day of your procedure.
Please only bring one family member or friend due to the limited space available.
Please leave all valuables at home the day of your procedure.
