Swallowed: Call a physician or Poison Information Centre. Do not induce vomiting or give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Drink promptly large quantities of water. Avoid alcohol. Skin: Remove contaminated clothing immediately and wash skin with plenty of soap and water. Get medical attention if irritation develops. Eye: Immediately flush with cold water for at least 15 minutes. Take care not to rinse contaminated water into the non-affected eye. Then get immediate medical attention. Inhaled: Remove to fresh air. If breathing is difficult, have trained person administer oxygen. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. Call a physician immediately. First Aid Facilities: Facilities storing or utilizing this material should be equipped with an eyewash and safety shower. Advice to Doctor: Probable mucosal damage may contraindicate the use of gastric lavage SECTION 5 -FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES Hazchem Code: 1W Extinguishers: In case of fire or smoke, cal the fire department. Do not attempt to extinguish the fire without a self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA). Do not let the fire burn. Flood with copious amount of water. Fire Fighting Precautions: Fire-fighters should wear full protective clothing and self contained breathing apparatus (SCBA). Thoroughly decontaminate fire fighting equipment including all fire fighting wearing apparel after the incident. Combustion Products: Oxygen and toxic chlorine gases. Other Precautions: This product is combustible. Avoid conditions of extreme heat, contamination with moisture, solvents, acids, glycerine, turpentine, organic gases, gycols and other organic material
SECTION 6 - ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES Using appropriate protective clothing and safety equipment contain spilled material. Do not add water to spilled material. Using clean dedicated equipment, sweep and scoop all spoiled material, contaminated soil, and other contaminated material and place into clean dry containers for disposal. Do not use floor sweeping compounds to clean up spil s. Do not close containers containing wet or damp material. They should be left open to disperse any hazardous gases that may form. Do not transport wet or damp material. Keep product out of sewers, watersheds and water system. Do not contaminate water, food or feed by storage or disposal or cleaning of equipment. Dispose of according to local, state and federal regulations. SECTION 7 - HANDLING AND STORAGE
Handling: STRONG OXIDISING AGENT: Do not mix with other chemicals, except water. Mix only with water. Never add water to product. Always add product to large quantities of water. Use clean dry utensils. Do not add this product to any dispensing device containing remnants of any other product. Such use may cause a violent reaction leading to fire or explosion. Contamination with moisture, organic matter or other chemicals will start a chemical reaction and generate heat, hazardous gas, possible fire and explosion. In case of contamination or decomposition, do not reseal container. If possible, isolate container in open air or well ventilated area. Flood area with large volumes of water. Storage: Keep this product dry in its original container, (For bags: store dry product in its original unopened bag until use. For partially used bags: fold over top of bag and secure with adhesive tape. For bottles: store product in original tightly closed container when not in use). Store unopened and partially used containers in a secure location away from children. Store in a cool, dry ventilated area away from heat or open flame. Moisture may decompose this product and cause a violent reaction leading to fire and explosion. In case of decomposition, isolate container if possible and flood area with large amounts of water to dissolve all material before discarding this container. Do not contaminate food or feed by storage or disposal. Incompatibilities: This is a strong oxidising agent. Avoid contact with water on concentrated material in the container. Keep away from household soap, suntan lotion, paint products, solvents, acids, beverages, lighted cigarettes, combustible materials, garbage, dirt, dirty rags, organic materials and other swimming pool/spa chemicals in their concentrated forms. Mixing with any of the above materials can initiate a hazardous decomposition. Contact with acids or moisture evolves chlorine gas. Reacts with ammonia, urea and amines (can form reactive and toxic chloramines). SECTION 8 - EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION
Exposure Standards: No ingredients in this product have exposure standards, as outlined in the standard Exposure Standards for Atmospheric Contaminants in the Occupational Environment third edition, published by the National Occupational Health and Safety Commission/AGPS, 1995. Engineering Controls: Personal Protective Equipment: Al personal protective equipment should be selected, used, maintained and decontaminated in accordance with manufacturers’ instructions and applicable standards. Clothing: Wear overal s, impervious gloves, rubber boots and rubber aprons when working with large volumes. Skin Protection: Wear rubber gloves when handling this product. Avoid contact with skin. Eye Protection: Wear goggles or safety glasses with side shields when handling this product. Respiratory Protection: A respiratory protection program that meets OSHA 1910.134 and ANSI Z88.2 requirements must be followed whenever workplace conditions warrants a respirator’s use. Personal Hygiene: Always wash hands after using this product. Always wash hands before eating, drinking, smoking or using the toilet. Remove and wash contaminated clothing before reuse. SECTION 11 -TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION DANGER: Lithium hypochlorite is highly corrosive. Keep out of reach of children. Lithium hypochlorite can be corrosive to eyes, skin, nose and throat. Inhalation can cause coughing and difficulty breathing. If inhaled, remove to fresh air and obtain medical attention. On contact with the skin, flush affected areas with plenty of water. If the eyes are affected, seek prompt medical attention. If accidentally taken internally, drink plenty of water and obtain medical attention immediately. Lithium Hypochlorite is a strong oxidising agent. It should only be mixed with water. Routes of Exposure: Skin contact, inhalation, ingestion & eye contact. Acute Effects: Swallowed: May be fatal if swallowed. May cause burns to the mouth, throat and stomach resulting in vomiting, diarrhoea and abdominal pain. Skin: Danger: Corrosive: Causes skin burns. Do not get on skin. Eye: Danger: Corrosive: Causes severe eye damage. Do not get in eyes. Inhaled: Harmful if inhaled. Avoid breathing dust. Fine dust reaching the lungs is toxic. Chronic Effects: There are no known chronic hazards. SECTION 12 -ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION
This pesticide is toxic to fish and aquatic organisms. Do not discharge effluent containing this product into lakes, streams, ponds, estuaries, oceans or other waters. SECTION 13 - DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS
