BHUBANESWAR: Priests of Jagannath Temple in Puri
stalled the daily rituals when the police attempted to arrest
a servitor for allegedly harassing a pilgrim. A woman
devotee, Rashmi Rekha Mishra (35), a relative of a top
police officer in Jharkhand, had lodged an FIR against
priest Ranjan Pratihari. Pratihari also lodged a complaint
against her for allegedly misbehaving with him. However,
some priests protested when police tried to arrest
Pratihari. “Protesting our attempt to attempt Pratihari, the
priests threw a spanner in the rituals. They demanded
withdrawal of the case against him,” IIC of Singhadwar
