THE BENEFITS OF RX SELECTIONSTM
Rx Selections
is a list of medications that may be covered under your prescription drug plan.
This list was reviewed by an independent group of practicing doctors and pharmacists, and it contains
medications made by most pharmaceutical manufacturers. It includes medications for many covered
conditions.
SAVING MONEY ON PRESCRIPTIONS
Your plan may prefer some medications over others. These are called plan-preferred drugs, and their
co-payment is lower. The amount of your co-payment depends on which drug your doctor prescribes
for you.
Higher co-payment for plan-preferred, brand-name drugs Highest co-payment for nonpreferred, brand-name drugs Your doctor may be able to help you save money by prescribing generic and
plan-preferred drugs. So be sure to bring this guide with you on every visit to your doctor.
This guide lists only the most common drugs. For an updated and complete listing of plan-preferred
drugs, you can visit the “My Benefits” section of our website — www.medcohealth.com and click
the Learn about formularies link.
FINDING LOWER CO-PAYMENT VERSIONS
This guide lists medications two ways to help you find some generic and plan-preferred
brand-name drugs.
ALPHABETICALLY BY DRUG CATEGORY (SUCH AS RESPIRATORY)
Within each category, medications are listed in order of their cost to your plan sponsor, from lowest to
highest. The $ and ! symbols next to each medication show the cost of that medication compared with
others in the same category:
ALPHABETICALLY BY BRAND NAMEAfter each nonpreferred brand-name drug, you will find possible generic and plan-preferred brand-name versions.
GENERIC COVERAGE
When a generic version of a brand-name drug is available, it will have one of the following symbols:
Means only the generic version is plan-preferred; the brand-name product has the highest co-payment. Means both brand-name and generic versions are plan-preferred, but the generic version has alower co-payment.
SAFETY CONSIDERATION SYMBOLS
Here is a quick guide for you and your doctor, which explains our safety symbols. These symbols
appear next to certain medications.
